KALEIGH MICHELLE MATTSON is a musician (piano & voice), freelance visual artist, and arts educator, based out of Morris, IL. She has performed, music directed, and been involved in the arts community in the greater Chicago area for the last 2 decades. She is an alumnus of the University of St. Francis (graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelors in Music in Piano Performance), American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City (musical theatre concentration), and the Chicago Academy for the Arts (musical theatre concentration). She is currently studying how the arts can be used therapeutically and for healing purposes.
At age 6, Kaleigh began taking piano lessons, and throughout her life, piano has remained a constant. She has music directed at many churches (currently at Immaculate Conception Church in Morris, IL), and has also music directed and conducted various musicals throughout the Chicago suburbs.
Kaleigh studied musical theatre during her teens and early twenties and has directed several theatrical productions, working primarily with children and teens. Kaleigh loves working theatrically, as it combines so many art forms in one.
Kaleigh currently teaches private piano and voice lessons as well as general music and art classes at Immaculate Conception School in Morris, IL. She also teaches virtual lessons as well to students nationally. Her teaching philosophy is learning through play with multiple learning styles using the senses to reach every student (sight, touch, sound, etc.). She hosts pop-up workshops in various artistic mediums (including visual art) throughout the Chicago area and southwest suburbs.
In addition to private lessons and group classes, Kaleigh is available to play and sing for funerals, weddings, and other special events by request.
She also does artwork by commission, specializing in graphics and acrylic paint.
