KALEIGH MICHELLE MATTSON is a musician (piano & voice), freelance visual artist, and arts educator, based out of Morris, IL. She has performed, music directed, and been involved in the arts community in the greater Chicago area for the last 2 decades. She is an alumnus of the University of St. Francis (graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelors in Music in Piano Performance), American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City (musical theatre concentration), and the Chicago Academy for the Arts (musical theatre concentration). She is currently studying how the arts can be used therapeutically and for healing purposes.

Kaleigh first fell in love with visual art at an early age. She loved pencil and charcoal drawing as a young child, and as an adult, she has taken to acrylic painting and jewelry making. She is currently working with digital art as well, and has worked as a freelance graphic and web designer over the past several years. Kaleigh’s visual artwork is inspired by the mysteries of the universe, nature, God, and the angels. Her biggest artistic influence is St. Hildegarde of Bingen. She is currently working on creating a shop to sell the artwork she makes.

At age 6, Kaleigh began taking piano lessons, and throughout her life, piano has remained a constant. She has music directed at many churches (currently at Immaculate Conception Church in Morris, IL), and has also music directed and conducted various musicals throughout the Chicago suburbs. She is deeply inspired by both J.S. Bach and Chopin, and has taken interest in studying medieval chant and Taize chant. She has recently been studying sound waves and the vibrations that create musical sound and how they can help to heal the human body. She has composed various types of music, and continues to do so.

Kaleigh studied musical theatre during her teens and early twenties and has directed several theatrical productions, working heavily with children. Kaleigh loves working theatrically, as it combines so many art forms in one.

Kaleigh currently teaches private piano and voice lessons as well as general music and art classes at Immaculate Conception School in Morris, IL. Her teaching philosophy is learning through play with multiple learning styles using the senses to reach every student (sight, touch, sound, etc.)

In addition to private lessons and group classes, Kaleigh is available for funerals, weddings, and other special events by request.
